2020 Update

As you can see, and by my own admission, I’m a jack of all trades & master on none. I have enjoyed a range of various projects over the years, from pixel art to miniatures & props. However I have never focused enough time on one art style to improve my skills.

Because of this, I have now decided to focus all my energy and time on sculpture only. Over the last year or so I have already seen great improvement on my sculpting skills.

So going forward, I will no longer be using this Blog, or my DeviantArt page. I have now changed my working name to GJ Sculptures and currently will only be posting on Instagram.

Thanks for viewing my old blog, and please follow me on Instagram: @gjsculptures

PROPS & REPLICAS - GAME OF THRONES DRAGON EGGS

My good mate Marco (Worlds largest Superman collection title holder) had an idea of a gift for his Mum. She's a big Game of Thrones fan and Marco wanted to create the Dragon Eggs in the case.

Together we each created the eggs from scratch from sculpy and then hand painted them. Marco sourced the box from the internet.

It was a fun little thing to create and I look forward to our next project.

BEARDED AXE BREW: PILOT'S PISSUP

So at the end of 2016 I created this beer just in time for Xmas. It was my first home brew and I went with an American IPA.

I choose Bearded Axe Brew as the name (obviously to match the bar). I choose Pilot's Pissup as the beer name for a few reasons. 1. a 'pilot' is a first episode of a TV show, the tester episode, this was a 1st/tester beer. I wanted the word 'piss' in the title as that's how I expected my first attempt to taste. Luckily it worked out good and had positive reviews from family & friends.

It was fun creating this beer, but a lot of work (mainly when bottling). I plan to create more in the future, maybe 1-2 a year.

I have a Instagram account set up for this: @beardedaxebrew which has more photos and videos.

MINATURES: EASY RIDER BIKES & DESERT SCENE

Franklyn Mint made some great 1/10 Easy Rider bikes some years ago. For many years I have kept my eye on the Internet hoping to pick them up. But normally selling at around £200-£400 each, they where always out of my price range...

...That was until I found beat up versions on eBay! I was lucky enough to win both Wyatt's Captain America bike and the Billy bike from some guy who had treated these beautiful models like s**t.

I wanted to repair and clean up the bikes, put the luggage on - like they always have in the film and then to finally create a camp scene diorama to display the bikes on.

The bike where more damaged than the seller made out

Handle bars snapped...

...on both bikes

The front wheel was the biggest issue to repair

Next was reference photos of luggage carried by the guys

They looked quite good as they where in my cabinet, but I hadn't finished...

I started designing the base using a picture frame

Early layout working out

I want a step between the bike to help show off the bike behind better

I use some packing foam from work for the step

More planning, I wanted a camp scene with the fire

More foam

Materials I picked up locally to me

I used milliput to help secure the base...

...and add more rough terrain

Here I started adding the glue and dust/dirt

The dust/dirt was collected by me in Almeria, Spain

I add grass/foliage

I tidy up the back by painting the foam

The scene is complete

Finished in the cabinet
